Seeking New Restrictions

Seeking New Restrictions

For my Bachelor’s collection, I researched sensory design, physical depth, and scale as means to enhance the viewer’s perceptual experience and intrigue their subconscious. I referenced nature and the human form within the silhouettes and colours of my designs, while using sculptural processes to manipulate their shapes and surfaces.

The resulting sculptures directly informed the pattern cutting for the wearable art and furniture. Nature inspired both the design and the production of this collection, which was sustainably made with donated fabrics, second-hand furniture frames and scrap wood. Giving new life to waste materials has since remained at the centre of my practice.

To increase accessibility to fashion, I presented this collection in a free exhibition, engaging the guests with my work physically in an immersive environment. The garments were presented alongside the furniture, sculpture, and digital media; including a breakdance performance accompanied by sound design recorded with local musicians, and an interactive game projection featuring the digitally remade collection using CLO3D.
